- Citizens At-Risk Registration
- The Citizens at Risk (C.A.R.) program is designed to allow residents who may be at a greater risk of becoming confused, lost, disoriented, or missing to be registered with the Oswego Police prior to an emergency. What to Recycle
The following are all items that can be recycled in your bin.
Paper
- newspaper (with inserts)
- magazines/catalogs
- telephone directories
- office/school paper
- advertising/junk mail
- Kraft brown paper bags
- corrugated cardboard
- paperboard/chipboard
Plastic
All plastic bottles (including lids and caps) and containers with the following symbols:
Metal
- aluminum cans
- steel or tin cans
Glass
- bottles and jars only
- brown, green, and clear glass
Aspetic Packaging
- juice boxes
- milk cartons
Items Not Accepted for Recycling
- wire hangers
- mirrors, lightbulbs, window glass, or ceramics
- soiled paper fibers (oily pizza boxes, paper napkins, etc)
- batteries
- styrofoam, wood, plastic film, plastic bags, plastic toys, or diapers
- electronics (see below for Oswego's Electronics Recycling program)
Electronics Recycling
NEW Curbside Electronic Recycling Program
The Village of Oswego’s waste hauler, Groot Industries, collects electronic waste for curbside collection at no additional charge to the resident. With 24-hour notice, electronic materials including CRT or tube style televisions will be collected. Accepted electronics include:
- computers and monitors
- video game consoles
- electric mice
- printers
- scanners
- televisions
- video cassette recorders
- digital video disc recorders
- digital converter boxes
- electronic keyboards
- cable receivers
- fax machines
- small scale servers
- satellite receivers
- digital video disc players
- portable digital music players
To request electronic collection, please contact Groot at 1-877-775-1200.
Please be aware that there may be a charge for items requiring more than a single person to lift. This charge is determined by Groot Industries.
