RPZ / Backflow Testing
RPZ / Backflow Testing
The Village of Oswego contracts with Backflow Solutions, Inc. (BSI) to administer our cross-connection control / backflow tracking program. The Village utilizes BSI Online for all test report submittals.
All annual backflow assembly test reports must be submitted electronically by the testing company via the BSI Online System. There is a filing fee, which is set by BSI, per test report submitted.
Each resident / business who owns a backflow assembly (RPZ valve) will receive a notification letter from BSI with a Customer Confirmation Number (CCN). This number must be given to the tester in order for the reports to be properly filed with BSI.
For any questions regarding this program, please contact BSI via email bsionline@backflow.com or phone 888-966-6050. Additional information on the adopted Ordinance and local amendments to the Building Code can be found in the Village's Municipal Code.
PROCESS FOR REMOVAL OF RESIDENT LAWN SPRINKLER SYSTEM
Any residents wishing to permanently disconnect their lawn sprinkling systems need to:
- Apply for a Building Permit
- In the “Existing & New Structure Requests” box, check “Other” and fill in “permanently disconnect lawn sprinkling system” in line provided.
- Once the Building Permit has been issued and the $46.00 fee has been paid, you may have the disconnection work completed.
- When the work has been completed, you must contact the Building & Permits Department (630-554-2310 or bzinfo@oswegoil.org) to schedule an inspection.
- An inspector will verify that the backflow device has been taken out of service and that the water piping is terminated with not more than two feet of a dead end.
- PLEASE NOTE: Failure to schedule an inspection and pass the inspection will result in your name not being removed from the RPZ list and you will continue to be liable for the yearly inspection and fee.
- Once the inspection has passed, you may contact BSI to notify them of the removal.
For Commercial RPZ questions, please contact the Building & Permits Department (630-554-2310).
