The Village of Oswego operates under the Trustee-Village form of government, as defined in Illinois state statutes. Residents elect a Village President and six Trustees at-large to overlapping four-year terms. The Board meets twice a month to discuss and vote on Village business.

In addition, the Village Board appoints a full-time Village Administrator as the chief operating officer who manages the day-to-day activities of the Village.

Village Trustee Appointment

The Village of Oswego Board of Trustees approved President Ryan Kauffman’s nomination of Karen Novy to fill the vacant trustee seat at the special Village Board meeting on July 5, 2023.

The vacancy was due to the resignation of Trustee Luis Perez in May. Novy will serve until the 2025 Consolidated Election at which time a candidate will be elected to complete the remaining two-year term of the vacant seat.

Meetings
The Oswego Village Board typically meets on the first and third Tuesday of each month, at 7 p.m., in the Board Room of Oswego Village Hall, 100 Parkers Mill. A Committee of the Whole meeting precedes at 6 p.m. to allow for in-depth discussion for upcoming Village Board actions. Board meetings are open to the public and can also be viewed live or as a recording on our Watch Meetings page.

Meetings are open to the public. Members of the public may address the Village Board during Public Comment at the beginning of each meeting. Those wishing to speak are asked to complete a comment card, available at the front of the meeting room, so that staff can follow up with additional information. Public comment is limited to 5 minutes per speaker, and speakers must abide by the Village's Civility Code.
