The Village of Oswego has recently implemented the issuing of temporary persons with disabilities placards (hang tags) for residents of the village. These 90 day temporary placards are available at the Oswego Police Department front desk. These temporary placards are issued for those temporary injuries or conditions that do not qualify for a permanent disability status but may limit a person’s ability to perform those tasks as outlined in 625 ILCS 5/1-159.1. These placards are valid throughout the United States.

These are available for Village of Oswego residents only. There is a $10.00 processing charge for these placards. Application forms are available online or by visiting the police department in person. The application with doctor’s certificate must be completed and brought to the police department in order to obtain the placard.

The Oswego Police Department will only process and issue these placards for Village residents, if you are unsure if you reside within the corporate limits of the village you may contact the police department front desk to inquire by giving your address. Non residents and persons requiring permanent disability placards will continue to have to apply for these at one of the Illinois Secretary of State offices.
