Special Olympics
The Law Enforcement Torch Run is the single largest year-round fundraising event benefiting the Special Olympics Illinois. The Oswego Police Department participates in several events throughout the year. The events are the Polar Plunge, Cop-on-Rooftop, the Torch Run and Culvers Butter Burgers & Badges. The Oswego Police Department also sells Torch Run Merchandise and raffle tickets for a chance to win a Harley Davidson Motorcycle.
The Polar Plunge is an event where brave Officers and their family members "plunge" into the frozen lake at Silver Springs State Park. This event takes place the first weekend in March every year. The Oswego Police Department has participated for the past 15 years.
The Torch Run is an event where Officers, their family members, and members from other department in Kendall County run the Flame of Hope through Kendall County. We meet with the Kendall County Comets at the intersection in the county and we continue the run with the Special Olympic Athletes to the end where we have refreshments.
The Culvers Butter Burgers and Badges events have Officers working hand in hand with the servers at the restaurant working for "tips". Torch Run merchandise is also offered at these events.
The Oswego Police Department raises money for our events by having local businesses sponsor us. If you are interested in becoming a sponsor of Team Oswego or purchasing Torch Run merchandise, please contact Officer Anthony DeNatale or Connie Jackson at 630-551-7300.
